When belts are too loose, belts are damaged AND when belts are too tight, bearings are damaged. Belts should be properly tensioned, allowed to run for a couple of hours, and then re-tensioned upon installation. Regardless of your years of experience in replacing belts, a belt tensioning gauge is highly recommended to do this properly. In this video, we show you how to measure belt deflection the right way.
